As I read through the Scriptures, I am impressed by the way so many of
God's men were schooled in preparation for service in ministry. It
seems that the preferred method of schooling was not centered around
a curriculum, or based on a program, but rather linked to a person!
And so we see Elisha with his young men ("sons of the prophets") in
2 Kings 6, Paul with Timothy and Titus (his "sons in the faith"),
Moses with Joshua (his protege) and, of course, Jesus with his
twelve disciples.
Indeed, the Book of Numbers indicates a man would serve in Priestly
Ministry from the age of thirty until he was fifty. Then, after
twenty years of ministry, he would train those who were not yet of
age but destined to be also serving in ministry.
This Biblical model became the custom for "schooling" young men in
Torah and for ministry in Judaism, as it is to this day.
It is my conviction that this is indeed the best way to see young
men raised up and readied for service in ministry.
So that is exactly what I want to do with the Pastor Training
School. In this School,
I am taking 15-20 single, young men (ages 18-22) to spend about
three
months with me training for ministry.
A typical day would consist of 4-6 hours of instruction from me,
followed by 3-4 hours of personal
prayer-meditation-journaling-contemplation, then another 3 hours of
serving in
practical ways.
There will be no grades, tests, term papers, etc. It's not about that! But...
- It is about embracing the truths the Spirit makes real to each one personally.
- It is about the only textbook that truly counts - the Bible.
- It is about sharing the things I wish someone had shared with me concerning
ministry when I was 20.
- It is about asking questions and finding answers as we search the Scriptures.
- It is about seeking His face on our knees together.
- It is, ultimately, about Jesus - nothing more, nothing less, nothing else!
For those of you who wish to hear a more complete version of how
the Lord has been leading me to do this school, you can check out
the teaching that I gave regarding this ministry. You can listen to the teaching from the

Well, God Bless You ... And, if so inclined, I would truly
appreciate your prayers for this venture. Thanks so much!!! |
